This winter looks to be going a few ways. Depending on what happens in Ukraine, how cold it is and how windy it gets in the UK the lights may stay on or we could face prolonged power cuts - The BBC are even planning on emergency broadcasts if we have blackouts that last for up to two days. It would need to be extremely bad for that eventuality and the BBC plan for everything (they have the Kings obituary lined up already!).
However, we strongly recommend that you at least think about what you will do if the lights do end up going out. It isn’t beyond imagination that we may experience 2-3 hour loss of power, have you thought of:
- Whether your servers will be protected;
- Have you set up a call plan for diversion to mobiles;
- Are you ready to tell all staff to work from home;
- Have key staff got laptops that have long battery life?
We don’t want to sound like preppers and remember everything needs to be based on balance of risk and the outcomes of that risk.
If there are any of these that you maybe haven't thought of or isn't currently in place then feel free to speak to us so that we can go over with you how it can be improved.
